VOLENDAM DUTCH BULBFIELDS & PIEPERRACE

The ‘GREATEST FLOWER SHOW ON EARTH’ and the showpiece garden of the Dutch Bulb Industry, Keukenhof comes to life in a blaze of colour and beauty. Here the visitor may walk along landscaped gardens with millions of blooms, both indoors and outdoors. This 70 acre parkland has more than 700 varieties of Tulips, cascading waterfalls and ornamental lily ponds.

ITINERARY

THURSDAY

Depart Leyland 1400 for the journey to Hull and overnight ferry to Rotterdam with P&O Ferries.
Accommodation is in 2 berth sea view cabins with shower and toilet. Dinner is taken on board.

FRIDAY

Breakfast on board. Re-join our coach and travel to Amsterdam. Built around 100 canals spanned by 1000 bridges, Amsterdam has a multitude of attractions. Mid afternoon continue to Volendam, one of
Holland’s most picturesque towns and check into the Art Hotel Spaander.

SATURDAY

Day at leisure in Volendam to witness the ‘Pieperrace’. This annual event of historic ships from around Europe is a spectacle not to be missed. From early morning till late evening it brings to life this vibrant fishing village, with its harbourside cafes and bistros. You also have the option (not included) to take the ferry to the historic town of Markem.

SUNDAY

Today we travel to the splendour of the Dutch Bulbfields and Keukenhof Gardens. Wander through the incredible sea of tulips, hyacinths, daffodils and narcissi of every shade, colour and combination.

MONDAY

Check out of our hotel following breakfast. This morning we travel to the historic village of Zaanse Schans in the heart of the Zaan region. With a mix of listed traditional windmills, wooden houses and craft shops all situated amid canals and the River Zaan. After lunch return to Rotterdam for a cruise around the third largest harbour in the world. This 75 minute trip gives you an impressive view of the skyline and a unique view of the shipyards, docks and historic vessels. Later we board our ferry for the return sailing to Hull. Accommodation is in 2 berth sea view cabins with shower and toilet. Dinner is taken on board.

TUESDAY

Breakfast on board ship before re-joining our coach for the return journey to Leyland arriving midday.
